I’m always talking about the amazing Josie at NailsMakeupMe and how I have never found anyone better than her when it comes to manicures and pedicures.

However, selfish Josie has gone on holiday to India, and is then heading straight to do her Make Up Artistry works of art at the Europe Music Awards, so I have had to soak my gels off and * gasp * do my own nails.

No word of a lie, I actually don’t own nail polish, simply because I have had Josie do my nails for as long as I can remember, but I am a HUGE fan of brands such as Ciate, OPI, Essie, Mavala and now Killer Colours!

I originally contacted the lovely Gill at Killer Colours for a totally different reason, but when she knew Clare and I have this blog, she asked to send us both a colour of our choice.  I chose Firewater and Clare chose Twisted Silk.  Firewater is me all over especially with the colder seasons coming, I’m a OPI Linkin Park or Chanel Rouge Noir kind of girl, so this seemed a perfect compromise of the two.

So today I sat down, filed my nails which I hate without Josie’s cuticle work, and painted them.  They look better than when I have done this myself normally, and this is largely down to the lovely application of the polish, it feels kind of stretchy, I know that is a bizarre thing to say about a liquid, but it just doesn’t feel like a normal nail polish, and on reading the information Gill sent me, it isn’t a normal nail polish, it is a blend of 4 plasticisers which give the nails the finish and flexibility they need to resist chipping and cracking.  The other plus is that all the polishes are formulated without the nasties: Toluene, DBP, Formaldehyde.

The finish is gorgeous, I don’t have a top coat at the moment, so this is without a shiny top coat, and the colour actually looks different in different lights, sometimes it’s really quite purple, but then other times it’s like a gorgeous rich red wine.  I love it, and can’t wait to see how long it lasts.  Normally a polish lasts about 24 hours on me before chipping as my nails are so bendy, so I’ll report back on this!

You’ll have to excuse my cuticles.  Hurry back Josie!!
